Tiny 2, VHF Antenna

To receive something i made a dirty monopole. Cut out the braid of 1/4 (wavelength) portion wire and presto my monopole is ready to receive. I dare not to transmit. VHF receiver working. Set to low power mode.5 watt. My power supply does not permit me to operate more power.

GP from one source is 1200/- and from another friendly source it is 500/- . At present i dont have that much money to invest and for 100km straight there is no one to reply my cq call.

To my salvation comes the tiny2 and tiny3 antenna. I saw it on the website of www.qsl.net/w4sat/index.html. My friend vu2spf also reported that 3 elements may solve my requirement.

Withing 3 hours i built it. Actually i had everything available with me. Plastic boom, al tubes. machines etc. I bought one drillbeat and few 1.5 inch long steel nut-bolts. It is ready to fire.

VHF base station

I hope to procure one VHF base station and one mobile station. It will create a thing to showoff with local peoples. If i show something which according to them look nice and work may be they will be attracted toward the hobby.

If i show them my CW rigs it is just a jingle of tones and means nothing to their ears.

Few friends came for  eyeball qso but i did not have any working VHF on which i can give channel. I thought i need one vhf to work my nearest hams 100Kms in all directions i.e Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Una and one at Somewhere in Gir forest. As being a single ham in city it will be a DX for me all these city.

I got one VHF. ALNICO DR-130 with 50w VHF single band only. Wow, i will be able to be touched. Welcome friends. Frequency, antenna not decided. I will be on a standard calling freq only.

40 meter cq

At last i have made the vu2vwn qrp tx running about 3 watt. It is very stable due to the crystals. Freq 7060 Khz. Keying is also good. Only problem is that it is for cw (A1A). Either it needs to be run into AM (A2A) or DSB (J3A) for voice communications.

After putting it in a box will try a small linear using  mosfets or may be design a new DSB tx from the scratch.
my cw call will be

If i use morce-code this is the conversations i can understand at most. I have not practised code for 7 years. Straight key. Seperate tx and receiver .NO full break. There is no NO QSK. Inverted-V dipole.  Timings about 7.30 to 8.30 mornings. QRS slow speed code. Please bear with me. If you hear me please reply in SSB or DSB.

Also requesting for a sked.

20 Mb QRP TX

I wanted a part from my old days.So was searching old packed junk. In that i found an aluminium box , a little broken. I opened it ! wow it was a long forgoten 20 Mb transmitter. Box had no holes. It never went on the air. Even it was not finished. It was AM transmitter. Actually when i went out for greener pastures all things were packed in hurry.

I quickly identified where was the problem. Oscillator was running 10.7 instead of 3.57 ?

Will make it workable.

Instead of making it, i used up the moudles, parts in other project. Now, this box houses a dc radio.

Boat Anchor Receivers

broken dial cord

inside the chasis
Yesterday i once again tried the old favourite sait MR 14501. It did not give me results. I worried. I opened up my S-129 and wound the dial cords. Tested it. working ok but cord once again sleeped from dial so will have to open up once again and wind up band spread cord.

Later on i found out that my wire was 'broken'  so it did not worked in first time. Soldered it and presto gives out loud signals.
